Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA)
The basic objectives of this programme are to open a channel of admission to Computer courses for students who have done the 10 + 2 and are interested in taking up Computers as a career. After acquiring the Bachelor’s degree at IGNOU, there is a further educational opportunity to go for MCA at IGNOU or pursue Master’s Programme at another University. The development of the course structure for the BCA programme has kept in mind, the current trends of encouraging students at the Bachelor degree level to have exposure in some areas beyond their immediate specialization. The curriculum of BCA includes foundation/introductory courses in English for computing, Humanities, Social Sciences and Technology. Some of the computer science related courses covered in BCA include topics like Computer Fundamentals, Data Structures using ‘C’, Graphical User Interface, Data Base Management System and Computer Organisation. Master of Computer Applications (MCA)
The broad objective of the MCA is to prepare graduate students for productive careers in software industry/academia by providing an outstanding environment for teaching and research in the core and emerging areas of the discipline. The programme’s thrust is on giving the students a thorough and sound background in theoretical and application-oriented courses relevant to the latest computer software development. The programme emphasizes the application of software technology to solve mathematical, computing, communications/networking and commercial problems. Certificate in Computing (CIC)
This programme is aimed to fulfilling the need of an opportunity in the nature of an “adult computer literacy” programme which could meet the large demand of people who are interested in at least some computer education. It is a short programme which almost every future graduate including those from IGNOU can take. This programme is of some use as a means to assess the student’s potential for taking up computer education in a distance mode. Eligibility |
