Communication, be it in mass media or at corporate levels, requires a skilled and professional approach. This field is a fast growing industry looking for enterprising professionals. This course is specially meant for candidates who aspire to make a career in the areas of mass media and communication and aims to impart comprehensive training for various professionals in print, radio, television, internet and corporate communication. Throughout the course impetus will be put on a critical approach to media and stress will be placed on communication research.In the final semester, students will have the option of specializing in either television production or corporate communication.
Objectives
The course is geared towards realizing the following objectives: - (1) To provide intensive theoretical and practical knowledge in various media professions ranging from the management of media organization to the more scholarly field of research. (2) To provide an integrated perspective of media functioning along with a fair amount of exposure to technical know-how. (3) To hone the student's analytical ability, interests and an indefatigable amount of curiosity in the happenings of one's surroundings - all required to make one a good journalist. Completion of this course would open visits for fulfilling careers in various media like television production, corporate advertising,photograph and related fields and would also give enough preparation for managing any media organization.
Eligibility : 3 years Graduation or equivalent
Min. Duration : 2 years (4 semesters)
Max. Duration : 4 Years
Maximum counselling and hands-on experience at study centers : 160 hrs/semester.

Provision for Lateral Entry to Second semester (First level):
Eligibility : Successful completion of 3 years graduation with one year work experience in Journalism and Mass Communication.
Additional Fees : In addition to the normal fees, an additional lateral entry fee of Rs.3,500/- (including examination fees) is payable by the students opting for this Scheme.
Note : In this lateral entry Scheme, students have to appear and pass the first semester examination. Books of first semester will be supplied by the University and internal assessment will be completed at the learning Centre. |
